Membership of the Association is open to all individuals who show an involvement in and a commitment to the objectives and activities of the Association. Joining IMANA give members opportunities to be part of a dynamic team of professionals taking leadership in advancing not only the profession of midwifery but leaders in the lead in perinatal care in Namibia. The benefits include but not limited to:
- Serving as a member of the board of directors of IMANA
- Unlimited Continuous Professional Development session by IMANA
- Networking opportunities with a community of midwives
- Advocacy and representation for the profession at local, national and international levels
- Access to valuable resources
Membership is payable annually and must be paid by no later than 31 March of each year. Each member will be issued with an electronic membership certificate
Full Members:
A person is qualified for full membership if he/she is registered by the Health Professional Council of Namibia to practice as a Midwife in Namibia. This includes Nurse-Midwives Midwives and Enrolled-Midwives. Full members are expected to attend the regular meetings of the Association and to assist with the activities of the Association.
Associate Membership:
Associate membership may be awarded to any person (non-Midwife) who has rendered significant services/assistance to Midwives and the midwifery profession in Namibia or who promotes the objectives of the Association in a significant way. Midwives who would like to support the Association but are unable to make time commitment to become full members of the Association may apply for associate membership. Associate members are expected to make themselves available to the Association from time to time, when called upon, so that the Association may draw upon their skills and expertise. They may also be asked to advise the Association on policy matters and are welcome to attend regular meetings of the Association and to participate in activities of the Association. Associate members may not serve as Executive Council office bearers.
Student Nurse/Midwife Membership:
Student nurse/midwife membership is awarded to registered students at any institution of higher education who have expressed interest in becoming a member of IMANA. No membership fees apply to student membership.
